****IdleWild performed at the Tazewell County Battle of the Bands on August 13. Despite the initial adverse weather conditions the clouds finally broke and the rock began. This was our first ever battle of the bands and we placed 3rd in the stiff competition. All of the bands were amazing and VERY young! "These kids were amazing" said Todd of IdleWild, "All of the bands could have very easily been in the top positions, I would have hated to have been the judges that night"
After changing our song selection about 4 times within 10 minutes before going on stage, we finally decided on "My Fix" a rocking, heavy original that Tonia kicks ass on and Cumbersome, a cover tune by SevenMary3 which Brian played an amazing drum solo on.****
We would like to thanks, first of all Caiged Angel for running the sound for us and all their hard work for all the bands. We'd also like to thank the Tazewell County Fair Association for having the Battle and inviting us. Most of all we want to thank our "WILD CREW" for coming out and supporting us! You guys are amazing and you'll never know how much we appreciate our faithful, loyal FANS!!! Here's to you...WILD CREW!!!
IdleWild is based out of
The group consists of 5 seasoned musicians. The backbone of the group is Tonia
Totten with her powerful, soulful and sultry voice. Her range is one of the
best in this area for female singers. When you mix her vocals along with Todd
Long, who also plays rhythm guitar, you end up with a unique melting pot of
styles including a raw, hard vocal show.
Lead guitarist, Randy Kestner, also has a lot of talent to showcase in the
group. He has been playing for 20 years, but his specialty is the blues. He has
migrated IdleWild's music to more of a hard, driving
style. His guitar riffs is full of heart and feeling that can be heard when he
plays live. Todd Long, has played in several different
bands over the past 20 years and has always played rhythm. He can play most any
style, but is most at home when playing more bluesy or driving styles. Larry Gibson, plays bass for IdleWild.
Larry has also played for several years and in several different groups,
everything from pop to bluegrass styles. IdleWild's
drummer is Mark Davenport. Mark is the only member of the group that hasn't
played with a lot of bands prior to IdleWild, however, he has been an active musician for over 10 years.
IdleWild is very interested in original music and
already had several original songs. The latest original, "My Fix" can
be heard on our music page. We always play a broad range of music so we can
play to any crowd any time; we take great pride in being able to do so. With so
many different styles in this group that wasn't a hard task to overcome.
